Samantha Mabee
Behaviour Therapist & Master Trainer
I first started training with Bark Busters in 2019, I’ve since had the rewarding experience of helping over 1000 families with their canine companions. Before Bark Busters, I worked as an Environmental Technician on a restoration project. While it was a rewarding career, it was lacking what I truly wanted: to be working with people and animals (especially dogs). I took the leap with Bark Busters and never looked back!
What I love about my job
Training a dog can be such a fun and rewarding experience for everyone in the family, especially for the dog! As our best friends, companions and playmates, dogs play such an important role in our lives. They love us endlessly, and can also teach us some of life’s greatest lessons. I love empowering clients, helping them to clearly and concisely communicate with their dogs and providing the foundation for a happy lifelong relationship.
Why I became a dog trainer
I’ve always loved animals and dreamed of having a career working with pets. When I was young, we rescued a dog named Trixie. She was a wonderful pup but she was quite reactive to other dogs and some people. Back then unfortunately we didn’t know how to help her, so we avoided a lot of things and always had to be careful. Looking back, if only we had known about Bark Busters. We could have made her life much less stressful. In 2018, I rescued a 10-year-old dog named Lola who had some serious challenges including severe separation anxiety, biting and barking. This time I called Bark Busters and within two months of following the training, she was a completely different dog. I never imagined Lola could be so happy. I decided right then to become a trainer and help give our furry friends the happy healthy lives they all deserve.
My areas of expertise include:
- Puppy training
- Separation anxiety in dogs
- Stopping excessive barking
- Dog aggression and aggression toward humans
- Leash training, including leash pulling
- Stopping dogs from jumping on people
- Food aggression in dogs and resource guarding
- Reactive dog training
- General obedience training
- And more…
In the first meeting, we learned more about our individual dog, ways to communicate with her and how she is communicating with us. We are so impressed with our dog’s responses and aptitude. Thank you Sam for helping us understand our pup better. We are excited about watching her reach her full potential.
