Dog Training in Burnaby, the Tri-Cities, North Vancouver, East Vancouver
Julie Emery
Behaviour Therapist & Trainer
I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of dogs and their families across the Greater Vancouver area. Before becoming a trainer, I was self-employed and volunteered with Parent Association Committees and sports clubs. I honed some of my training skills while also working as a ski instructor. In 2021, I was introduced to Bark Busters as a client. The program worked so well that I was inspired to become a trainer and help other families with their dogs. When I’m not training, you will find me in the mountains skiing with my family or on the trails walking with my two Boston Terriers, Phil and Hanna.
Also Serving: Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody
What I love about my job
I love helping my clients achieve their goals while simultaneously improving their relationships with their dogs. I know how it feels to have an anxious and reactive dog and it is very motivating to see improvements in dogs, particularly those with severe behaviour issues. I’m grateful for every opportunity I get to help other owners.
Why I became a dog trainer
When I decided to get my first dog, I wanted him to be very well-trained. We attended puppy school for 2 months and initially, I was pleased. My dog proved to be intelligent, obedient and enjoyed doing tricks. Unfortunately, after all his training my boy steadily pulled the lead during walks and became reactive toward other dogs. Despite my efforts to distract him with treats, the problems would not resolve. I turned to Bark Busters and the results were almost immediate. With a lot of practice, the program made a world of difference and this is when I knew I wanted to become a certified Therapist and Trainer.
My areas of expertise include:
- Puppy training
- Separation anxiety in dogs
- Stopping excessive barking
- Dog aggression and aggression toward humans
- Leash training, including leash pulling
- Stopping dogs from jumping on people
- Food aggression in dogs and resource guarding
- Reactive dog training
- General obedience training
- And more…
Julie is so talented and amazing! She is very passionate about what she does and genuinely wants what is best for the owners and their dogs. We always look forward to our training. Thank you, Julie!
